City Hydrant Flushing

 

Every year, Marshalltown Water Works flushes the hydrants in the entire city.  The purpose of the program is to keep the water mains clean and to check all fire hydrants for proper operation. Flushing will typically take place in portions of the north west and south west quadrants of town.  The north east and south east Quadrants will be serviced in the fall.

During the time crews are flushing hydrants in your area, residents may notice lower than normal pressure and/or temporary discoloration of their water.  If you notice any discoloration, running the cold water for about five minutes should remove the discolored water from your pipes.  If you notice lasting problems, please call our office at 641-753-7913.
